Head of State presides over celebration of Night of Destiny at Zitouna Mosque

(TAP) - President Beji Caid Essebsi presided at a ceremony at Zitouna Mosque on Monday afternoon the celebration of the Night of Destiny (Laylat al-Qadr).

The Head of State honored, on thes occasion, the winners of the national contest of Holy Quran memorisation for the year 2018, Aymen Ibrahim (first), Hamdi Gafsi (second) and Bechir Ben Othman (third).

A tribute was also paid to Mohamed Abdelkader Maaref who finished in second place in the reading contest of the Holy Quran for 2018.

During this religious ceremony, Sheikh Abdelkader Naffati gave a lecture on the theme "The responsibility of religious preaching and its role in development", emphasizing the contribution of this discourse to encouraging the culture of work and self-denial and promotion of human resources and cultural and social affairs.

The ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the House of People's Representatives, the Prime Minister, the Mufti of the Republic, as well as ambassadors of Arab and Islamic countries accredited in Tunisia, MPs, national figures, presidents and representatives of national organisations and the Imam of the Zitouna Mosque
