Huawei Technologies interested in investing in Tunisia

(TAP) – Prime Minister Youssef Chahed received on Tuesday president of "Huawei" in the MENA region, Yi Xiang, and Tunisian officials of the Chinese giant of the mobile telephony and informatics.

During this meeting, Huawei representatives presented their vision to the Prime Minister, technologies that the Chinese firm can provide to Tunisia and what it can do in the country under the Tunisia 2020 programme.

"The IT solutions giant Huawei Technologies is interested in investing in Tunisia, given the importance of the Tunisian market, on the one hand, and the human skills available to the country, on the other hand," said Adnène Ben Halima, Deputy Director General of Huawei Tunisia, in a statement to the press on Tuesday.

"Tunisia has a huge potential in this area," said the official, recalling that 15% of engineers graduating each year are from the sector of information and communication technologies.

He also said that the Chinese firm will recruit professionals in Tunisia, as part of the projects to be launched soon, which will target the large African market and especially that of the Middle East. He also noted that Huawei will ensure to contribute to the digitisation of Tunisia, bringing its know-how to improve the country's infrastructure and launch new technological services.
