(TAP) - Prime Minister Youssef Chahed said on Wednesday that allocations worth 25 million dinars will be paid immediately to municipalities affected by the latest floods in Nabeul governorate.

He also said that an intervention programme was set up for the poor neighborhoods affected.

Speaking to TAP after Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting in Nabeul, he added "urgent interventions will be made to repair infrastructure, classified roads, rural trails, educational institutions and security premises.”

He noted that some repair work is already underway and that all works will be completed within three months or before the end of the current year.

Regarding the agricultural sector, Chahed said that farmers will be compensated according to the laws in force, and damaged agricultural establishments rehabilitated.

He pointed to the possibility of drawing up, as soon as possible, a draft law to compensate the victims in the industrial and commercial sectors.

"The committees set up have begun assessing the damage recorded in the various sectors, in order to launch the compensation operation for the affected citizens and to carry out the necessary social interventions, through the Tunisian Union of Social Solidarity "UTSS", he indicated.

These are the first decisions taken, pending the completion of the inventory of damage recorded, he pointed out, adding that the situation remains fragile and requires ongoing monitoring.

Chahed announced that "a postal account No. 1818 has been opened to collect donations", inviting Tunisians to show solidarity with the Cap Bon.

He said that "donations will be managed by the UTSS, under the control of the Court of Auditors".

Cleaning and maintenance campaigns will be organised in the governorate of Nabeul; they will be conducted by more than 1000 young people, at the end of this week, he said.
