(TAP) – Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, visited the Hammam-Lif "Amali" childcare centre on Tuesday afternoon, where he asked about the psychological care conditions for the 42 children at the Koranic school in Regueb.

In a statement to media at the end of his visit, Chahed pledged to prosecute all those who have committed crimes against these children, stating that "Tunisia is a civil state and will not allow anyone to indoctrinate their children".

In accordance with the provisions of the constitution, the government has taken the necessary steps, he said, noting that more than 160 lawsuits have been filed against the school and other associations whose activities are questionable.

The PM commended the judiciary for its prompt intervention in this case.

The Koranic school in Regueb, located in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid, was closed last Thursday and its director arrested. This school housed minors in conditions considered "inappropriate".

The 42 children of this school were hosted at the Amali centre in Hammam-Lif in the governorate of Ben Arous, in order to provide them with the necessary psychological and health support
