Two partnership agreements between the agricultural groups "Oued Zan" and "Barka" in Tbainia (Ain Drahem) and the company "Les vergers de Tunisie" were signed on Thursday in Jendouba, with a view to creating more than 1,000 permanent jobs over three years.

The two agreements aim to promote participatory management in the extraction of essential oils of myrtle in the Jendouba region, to preserve forest wealth and rationalise the exploitation of these resources as well as to protect them from fire hazards.

The two agreements were signed as part of the integrated forest landscape management project, in the presence of Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Samir Taieb

They come after the signing of agreements on participatory management, which were concluded between the agricultural development groups created in the project's intervention areas and the General Directorate of Forests, with a view to enabling the groups to make the most and preserve the forest wealth.

Their objective is to combat the informal economy and establish a formal economy, since the investor pledges to open a factory in the rural region, to acquire all the quantities produced and to provide social security coverage and decent transport for workers

Besides, these agreements offer producers (agricultural development groups) and economic operators (exporters and SMEs) a market for their high value-added products and make raw materials available to economic actors throughout the period covered by the agreement.
