(TAP) - Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, on Thursday, handed over ownership contracts to a number of residents of Oued Meliz delegation (Jendouba governorate) as part of the national programme to regularise the land situation in former urban areas built on state land.

The programme targets 18,243 housing units in the governorate of Jendouba, of which 15,954 are covered by urban development schemes, while 2,289 are not.

All these dwellings are built on a total area of 444 ha, including 120 dwellings for the benefit of the village of Sidi Meskine.

The prices adopted range between 5 and 10 dinars per square metre. The beneficiaries must pay an advance, estimated at 40% of the accommodation price, before the contract is concluded, 30% one year after the contract is signed and the rest (i.e. 30%) two years later.

Chahed called on the representatives of local and regional administrations to raise awareness among residents of the need to prepare their files and finalise ownership procedures, saying this measure will enable owners to better manage their property
