Mr. Ezzedine Zaatour, Secretary-General of the General Union of Tunisian Students (UGET) said in a statement after his participation in the series of consultations underway to overcome the serious situation prevailing in the country that he had extended to the Prime Minister the Union's concerns facing the turn taken by the events that occurred in the country and the need to work to restore the security of all Tunisians.
Mr. Zaatour also said he had expressed to Mr. Mohamed Ghannouchi the concerns of students and the countless inequities that targeted many of them throughout the recent years, such as the operations of arrest against them and the expulsion of others from universities, thereby depriving them from continuing their university studies.
He emphasized the need to involve the UGET in everything that concerns the future of Tunisia, as three quarters of the participants in the movement of protest are pupils and students.
