Ways to boost tourism investment discussed as PM meets Turkish President

Thursday, March 08, 2012 - TAP - Interim Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali had a meeting, Thursday, with visiting Turkish President Abdullah Gul, in the presence of Foreign Affairs Minister Rafik Abdessalem, Minister of Investment and International Co-operation Riadh Bettaieb and Minister Responsible for Economic Issues Ridha Saidi.
The talk focused on economic co-operation between the two countries and ways to boost investment, particularly in the tourism field, Mr. Saidi said after the meeting.
A loan worth 500 million dinars will be granted shortly to Tunisia to improve the balance of payments and cover imports, he added.
The minister said a delegation of Turkish travel agency representatives will visit Tunisia soon to seek to better market the Tunisian tourist destination.
The two sides reiterated the need to boost co-operation in the industrial field, particularly setting up of industrial zones, he said.
The Minister of Investment said, on his part, that the Turkish side expressed willingness to support transition and the democratic experience in Tunisia.
The two sides commended the improvement of security in Tunisia which will certainly contribute to attract foreign investment and encourage promoters to invest in Tunisia after the fall of tyranny, he added.
Mr. Riadh Bettaieb denied the meeting had tackled the Syrian issue, saying that only economic aspects and prospects for bringing both peoples closer were reviewed.
