(TAP) - "Tunisia is one of the first democracies in the Mediterranean that deserves the support of its European partners", President of Portugal’s Assembly of the Republic, Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues said at his meeting Wednesday in Kasbah with Prime Minister Youssef Chahed.

In this regard, he expressed surprise at Tunisia's recent European classification, in reference to its inclusion in the blacklist of third countries at high risk of money laundering and terrorist financing.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen economic relations between Tunisia and Portugal bilaterally and with Europe, the Prime Ministry said in a press release.

It also discussed the challenges facing the Euro-Mediterranean region, particularly the fight against terrorism and irregular migration
