Government, well prepared for new school year “in spite of challenges facing education system” (Youssef Chahed)

(TAP) - The government is well prepared for the new school year "in spite of the challenges facing the education system," said Prime Minister Youssef Chahed on Saturday.

In a statement to the media on the fringes of his participation in the kick-off of the 2018-2019 school year at the El Bhar Lazreg primary school in La Marsa, together with the Education Minister, Chahed pointed out that a set of measures have been taken this year to develop the education system such as the improvement of educational curricula, reinforcement of human resources and upgrading of infrastructure in several schools by means of 800 million dinars.

He also indicated that the educational curricula will be modified in the coming years to entrench in youths values ​​such as the dedication and love of the homeland, the spirit of association and volunteerism.

Minister of Education Hatem Ben Salem said for his part in a statement to TAP, that the El Bhar Lazreg primary school, which has the largest number of pupils nationwide, benefited of a set of measures as the upgrading of its infrastructure.

In this regard, the Minister specified that the amount of 7 million 600 thousand dinars will be dedicated to the construction, as of next February, of a kindergarten, a primary school, a college, a high school, a canteen and a sports complex over an area of ​​5 hectares in the El Bhar Lazreg.
