(TAP) – Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, on Thursday, kicked off the activities of the Pôle du Rayonnement de la jeune fille rurale in the region of Ain El Baya, Fernana delegation, governorate of Jendouba. The maintenance and rehabilitation works of this centre, which was burned and damaged in 2011, were carried out with a budget of more than 320 thousand dinars.
This centre, which is meant for young girls wishing to start projects, also has a leisure area for children. It facilitates rural women's and girls' access to information, guidance and training services and develop their skills in the economic sector, said Naziha Laabidi, Minister of Women, Family, Children and the Elderly, who attended the inauguration of the centre.
On this occasion, Chahed met a number of craftswomen who voiced the difficulties hindering the promotion of their products, and called for the organisation of a permanent regional fair with the objective of ensuring continuity and diversification and marketing of their products.
Training workshops will be organised for rural women on entrepreneurship, as well as awareness-raising workshops on reproductive health and literacy.
With regard to financing difficulties, Chahed instructed the regional authorities and the Minister of Finance to examine the possibility of increasing the value of loans granted to craftswomen.
During the second stage of his two-day visit to the governorate of Jendouba, the Prime Minister had the opportunity to closely follow the proceedings of a workshop on the welfare programme for rural women, "Ahmini" (Protect me), in the presence of a number of women who came to register and familiarise themselves with the telephone application related to this programme.
