Chahed and Merkel stress convergence of views on issues of common interest

(TAP correspondent Bahija Belmabrouk) - Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and German Chancellor Angela Merkel stressed in a meeting, the convergence of views between Tunisia and Germany on issues of interest, particularly the situation in Libya and Algeria.

They focused on the privileged bilateral relations between Tunisia and Germany, which they described as “excellent at the political and economic level.”

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 108th International Labour Conference in Geneva, which takes place June 10-21 2019 at the Palace of Nations in Geneva.

They stressed that the relations between the two countries will be consolidated through exchange of visits between officials of the two countries.

A large number of Heads of States and Governments, 5,700 delegates and employers from 187 ILO member States take part in the 108th Session of the International Labour Conference, which is organised on the occasion of the celebration of the ILO's centenary, under the theme, “Building a future with decent work”

The conference will examine the profound changes in the business world and at the level of social justice and issues related to violence and harassment in the workplace.

The Centenary Declaration is expected to address the challenges facing the world, including new technologies, climate change, globalisation and population growth.

Secretary-General of the UN Antonio Gorrites is expected on the last day of the Conference and will deliver a speech followed by the adoption of the outputs of the various commissions.
