PM's decisions on National Sports Day (Factbox)

(TAP) - Main decisions announced by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed on National Sports Day on Saturday:

 

Sports events:

 

- Organising national sports day across the country

 

- Adopting a vision of the sports sector as a social lever and an economic and development actor

 

- Providing an additional credit of 30 million dinars to support national sports events in 2019

 

- Granting additional aid to the budget of the National Fund for the Promotion of Youth and Sports estimated at 10.551 million dinars, while earmarking this Fund's revenues to sport.

 

Elite sports:

 

- Adoption of a medium- and long-term planning policy to prepare the elite by doubling the amount allocated to them eight times (17 million dinars, 2019-2020) to prepare national teams for Olympic and international events, in particular the Tokyo-2020 and Paris-2024 Olympics and Paralympic Games.

 

- Creation of the title of Ambassador of Tunisian sport, as part of contracts concluded with several elite athletes who have been crowned world, Olympic and Paralympic champions, at the end of their sporting careers.

 

 

School sports:

 

- Re-launching national school championships

 

- Launching studies for creation of 6 regional sports institutes such as the Pierre de Coubertin sports institute in El Menzah

 

- Professional integration of 2,010 graduates of higher education in the specialties of physical education, sports professions and sports activities

 

- Planning more than 500 additional neighbourhood sports fields across the country after the completion of the first 100 previously announced fields.
