(TAP) - The security situation took centre stage at a working session which President Kais Saied chaired in Carthage on Friday afternoon, with attendance of Caretaker Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and Interior Minister Hichem Fourati.

The working session, which saw the participation of security officials, offered the opportunity to lay emphasis on the impartality of the police institution and discuss preparations to respond to emergencies, reads a Presidency press release.

Focus also was put on the law organising the state of emergency and the need for review. Additionally, the meeting stressed the necessity of increasing the alert level to prevent road accidents and provide the best conditions for the return home of pupils and students for school and New Year holidays.

The state of emergency was extended in September till next December 31.
