Blome added that the US administration is fully ready to support Tunisia's development efforts and ensure the success of the democratic process, the Prime Ministry said in a statement.

The US ambassador also welcomed the progress made in the development programme led by the Millennium Challenge Corporation in Tunisia, which will provide about $500 million in donation to support the national economy, especially in transportation and agriculture.

For his part, the Prime Minister reviewed the set of economic reforms the government intends to adopt in the coming period.

He also highlighted ways to coordinate efforts with Tunisia's friends to garner support before the planned negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, according to the same statement.

Minister of Finance, Economy and Investment Support, Ali Kooli had previously said the upcoming visit to Washington early next May aims to persuade both the IMF and the World Bank of the need to support Tunisia in its national economy reform programme the government intends to implement, and accompany it in these reforms.

That visit also aims to foster bilateral relations with the United States in various fields, Kooli added at a meeting held by the Prime Minister on April 20, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad Othman Jerandi.
