July 04, 2011 - TAP - Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad ben Khalifa al-Thani, reasserted his country's support to the Tunisian democratic transition process, paying a ringing tribute to Tunisian Government for the efforts it is exerting on this path.
During a talk that he had, late on Monday, at the Doha Prince Palace, with Interim Prime Minister Béji Caïd Essebsi, Sheikh Hamad ben Khalifa al-Thani commended the Tunisian people's revolution, voicing optimism about Tunisia's future.
In this connection, he voiced his "will to see Tunisia become a strategic partner of Qatar during the coming period".
He also stressed commitment to solidify bilateral co-operation relations and breathe into them a new impetus, notably in matters of investments and in the fields of health and finance, expressing Qatar's readiness to host a larger number of Tunisian labourers who, he reminded, "are known for their skill".
A particularly warm welcome was reserved to the Interim PM who invited the Emir of Qatar to visit Tunisia.
Mr. Béji Caïd Essebsi had arrived, on Sunday, in Doha, notably accompanied by the National Defence and Finance Ministers.
Doha is the first stage of the Interim Prime Minister's round in the Gulf region, during which he is visiting Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
