International Conference on Intelligence Services in Democratic State under Rule of Law

15th of May 2013 - The International Conference on Intelligence Services in Democratic State under Rule of Law was launched on Wednesday at the National Mapping and Remote Sensing Centre in order to enhance good governance in terms of intelligence services.
The two- day conference was opened by Abderrahmane Ladgham, Minister to the Chief of Government in Charge of Governance and Fight against Corruption. The latter affirmed that the conference came under the framework of legal cooperation between Tunisia and Germany about ways to develop intelligence services according to good governance standards and transparency. The aim is to establish  developed, independent, transparent and neutral intelligence services subject to institutional control and to the principles of legality and responsibility, serve the citizens, democracy and the national economy not a particular political system or a person or a group of people.
Germany's Ambassador in Tunis Jens Plotner emphasized in his speech on the importance of the subject of the conference and Germany’s will to help Tunisia to develop and reform its security system.
The Tunisian side was represented by senior managers specialized in intelligence services from the ministries of Interior, National Defense and Justice as well as Customs and deputies of the National Constituent Assembly.
Representatives from the German Government, German senior managers and university professors specialized in intelligence services attended the conference.
