The Virtual University of Tunis (VUT) plays a central role in the modernization of the higher education system in the country through the installation of a system of open and distance training (FOAD) centered basically on the exploitation of the possibilities offered by the NICT and covering a planned part of the initial training, continuous training and training throughout the life.
This system of distance training aims mainly to:
- generalize distance education;
- unify the initiatives in matter of educational technologies;
- support the emergence of a digital pedagogy;
- promote a culture of permanent apprenticeship in an environment centered on the knowledge and innovation;
- reconsider the articulation between the work and the apprenticeship;
- contribute to the spreading of the access to the higher education in a prospective vision and to work to the improvement of quality and level of higher studies.
